We’re ushering in a new era at Local 350! I’m extremely excited about the launch of our website and our new presence on social media. We are doing everything we can to continue to build on our membership pride and a strong Local 350 community.
Member interaction is a major priority for us and as a result, member involvement is at an all-time high. We’ve been hearing from a lot of members that they want to be more involved with Local 350 activities and our goal is to make it as easy as possible to communicate and connect with us.
Our new website has a “get involved” page so that you can let us know that you’re interested in helping your Union. We’ve also hired a Communications Coordinator, Robert Sandoval, whose primary responsibility is to communicate with members. Robert has already coordinated actions through social media that have paid off for us.
Back in May, we had over twenty members volunteer their time to attend an event that we organized in support of San Francisco Mayor London Breed. Members walked precincts, distributed literature and showed the city of San Francisco just how strong and supportive Local 350 can be. Thanks to Local 350 members efforts, we were able to play a huge role in getting Mayor Breed elected.
These are all exciting changes that we are extremely proud of, but we’re also proud of the things that haven’t changed. Local 350 will carry on the legacy of former Principal Officers Bob Morales and Larry Daugherty by always fighting hard for our members and continuing to negotiate strong, lucrative contracts that are some of the best in the country.
So far this year members from Recology Cleanscapes, Recology South Valley, Material Recovery Systems and Garden City Sanitation/Milpitas Sanitation have overwhelmingly approved the best contracts they’ve ever had. These contracts will set the tone for future negotiations and allow us to continue to raise the bar for our members.
As always, the strength of any Union lies in the unity and support of its members. Local 350 has shown tremendous strength and unity over the years, which is why we’ve seen incredible success in negotiations. We’re looking to build on that foundation.
We will continue to fight for all of our members and negotiate industry leading contracts, while continuing to actively engage our membership. We look forward to working together with our membership to accomplish all of our collective goals.
Fight together, win together!
